DALLAS—October 28, 2006—Dallas Market Center, the world's largest wholesale merchandise resource, presented internationally celebrated designer Tadashi Shoji with the award for Best Designer in the “After 5” category at the 31st Annual Dallas Fashion Awards. Among the approximately 500 attendees were a wide range of fashion designers, retail executives, manufacturer representatives, celebrities and fashion press from across the country.
Head Designer and Owner of the TADASHI and T by Tadashi brands, Shoji has been at the forefront of the fashion world since his start in the industry nearly 25 years ago. While the TADASHI collection features luxurious gowns and dresses in silk, chiffon and lace, T by Tadashi offers the TADASHI customer a line of ready-to-wear pieces, including modern separates and stretch denim.
“Receiving this prestigious award is a tremendous honor and I thank everyone involved for the recognition,” said designer Tadashi Shoji, whose collections can be found at more than 3,000 department and specialty stores worldwide. “The key in this business is never to focus on receiving acclaim, but to concentrate on designing for your core consumer, who, for me, is the sophisticated, intelligent woman.”
The TADASHI evening collection and T by Tadashi are available in the United States, Europe and Asia; major department stores include Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s. Sizes range from 0-16. Tadashi boutiques are located in South Coast Plaza (3333 Bristol Street, Costa Mesa, California 92626; 877.TADASHI) and in the Forum Shops at Caesars (3500 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV 89109; 877.2TADASHI), online at www.tadashicollection.com.
The Dallas Fashion Awards, now in its 31st year, is the oldest retailer-chosen awards program in the country. The Awards recognize “superior design innovation, quality workmanship and retail performance.” The 24 finalists in 8 categories are nominated by a committee comprised of fashion press and industry experts. During the August Apparel Market retailers voted for their choice in each category. Winners were announced during the Dallas Fashion Awards gala on October 28, and proceeds from the evening will benefit the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) and the Fashion Group International Scholarship Fund.
