Need any more convincing that sexy– and metallics– are back? See Tadashi Shoji’s new luxury collection. In the first runway show for the new line, celebrities, including Ashanti and Carmen Electra, watched as models breezed down the runway in gorgeous feminine dresses. The first half of the show featured daringly short, form-fitting frocks over grey tights. The longer gowns were equally as breathtaking: one dress in particular – a black, cut out evening gown with a plunging back-line– evoked “oohs and ahhs” from the crowd. Whether it was metallic leather or bedazzled tulle, models sparkled down the catwalk in exquistely draped fabrics. The long flowing trains of the gowns moved well on the runway, despite the fact that some models got a bit tripped up. Nevertheless, Tadashi Shoji’s first show was an overwhelming success, receiving a standing “o” from all who were there.

We just received some great news. Tadashi will once again participate at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York and the official time slot is set for Wednesday September 12th at 2pm.

Yesterday was an exciting day here for us at Tadashi as our second Fashion Show took place. Once again the newest pieces from the TADASHI SHOJI line were successfully showcased during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Among those who attended the show were former Miss USA Tara Connor, Miss USA Rachel Smith, Miss Teen USA Hilary Cruz, Sheryl Lee, Alicia Witt, and Becky Southwick. Please stay tuned as we will be sure to post more infomation about the show here very soon.

Fashion Week: Tadashi Goes Green With Blue, While Anne Klein Celebrates Spring

One celebrity fashion designer devotes his collection to the environment while another celebrates the rites of spring as our coverage of Fashion Week continues. NY1 Cheryl Wills bring us the latest designs of Tadashi and Anne Klein.

Jacques Cousteau would be proud. Tadashi Shoji's spring 2008 collection is all about the deep blue sea and the wonderment of the natural environment.

The Los Angeles-based designer revealed a tidal wave of flowing dresses and gowns that he says reflects the fluidity of water.

Shoji is the official fashion designer for the Miss Universe Organization and beauty queens at his show said his spring collection is one of his best yet.

"It's always fresh,” said Miss USA Rachel Smith. “I really enjoy his brilliant colors that he uses.”

"I love Tadashi's clothes because regardless it fits me perfect,” said former Miss USA Tara Conner. “Tadashi is such a sweet person, anyway, that there's good vibes that come from it."

When is the last time you've seen bamboo on a dress? Only Shoji could pull that off.

"It's a hand-woven bamboo corset bustier and – look at this – seaming, maybe a hundred different seams,” said designer Tadashi Shoji. “Feathery, real chiffon. Feather-like leaves.”

From a nod to the environment to a burst of spring, we check out Anne Klein.

Spring is most definitely in the air, as Anne Klein's spring 2008 line comes into full bloom. The venerable designer makes a comeback of sorts with playful prints and sensual suits that are impressive by day and sensual by night.

Klein says it her inspiration came quite by accident.

"There's blooming dresses – actually it all happened because my husband was painting in his workroom, in his studio and he got some of the paint on some of the dresses and I said, ‘Oh my God! That's so beautiful,” said Anne Klein creative director Isabel Toledo. “It came alive."

Anne Klein’s 2008 collection is very much alive and well for the sophisticated woman who knows how to transform a power suit into anything she wants.

The Tadashi Shoji models looked as if they were swimming in an ocean of aegean and azure colored luxe, dramatic coral sunsets, and sand inspired splendor. As I watched a seemingly endless show of refined elegance, I felt like I had been transported to a perfect paradise where only the most beautiful couture was permitted entrance. Clearly, there is a reason that this Los Angeles based designer is dressing superstars like Shakira and Vanessa Williams. The fit, texture, and movement within the collection was light as a feather with a serious sense of indulgence. The colors, rhythms, and fabric took the audience on an aquatic journey from sand to shore. The reverie within the line was just so magical and dreamy without an ounce of pretension. The collection was defined by the quote from Jacques Yves Cousteau, “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder.” Well, I am still stargazing with thoughts of this bewitching collection. Tadashi Shoji has redefined glamour and brought beauty to the beach.

Tadashi will once again be showcasing his exciting new designs for the Tadashi Shoji line at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. The show will take place in the Promenade at Bryant Park on Friday, February 8th at noon.

For those of you who couldn't wait for Tadashi's fashion show in New York on the 8th then this event was for you. The 10th annual Gridiron Glamour show was held in Scottsdale, Arizona over the weekend to benefit the HollyRod Foundation and SARRC. The show mostly featured a large collection of Tadashi styles from both his TADASHI COLLECTION line and his TADASHI SHOJI line. Unfortunatly, Tadashi was unable to attend this show but we did get the lovely Holly Robinson Peete wearing a TADASHI geometric print silk chiffon halter gown from the Spring/Summer 2008 collection. Also in attendance was the beautiful Nicole Murphy wearing a silk jersey halter gown with starburst rouched bodice and fresh water pearl accent from the TADASHI SHOJI Spring/Summer 2008 line.

In case for some strange reason you didn't notice, Friday was Tadashi's third show and his third time participating in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. Celebrities were plentiful at the latest Tadashi Shoji show in New York. Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori appeared in a black and white print silk chiffon cap sleeve cocktail dress from the TADASHI Spring/Summer 2008 Collection. Actress Aisha Tyler wore a platinum stretch satin cocktail dress also from the Spring/Summer 2008 Collection. Choosing from the Fall/Winter 2007 TADASHI SHOJI line singer Sasha Lazard wore a black embroidered silk organza kimono wrap coat while actress Ana Ortiz donned a bronze foil printed linen convertible mini coat with peplum skirt.

Many fashion shows are featured in the upcoming Fall/Winter issue of Harper's Bazaar and Tadashi is there among the best of them with samples from his Fall/Winter 2008 Tadashi Shoji line.

Though Spring is generally when designers get their color on, at least one upcoming collection looks set to remain faithful to monochrome shades spliced with ever-so-subtle flashes of ultramarine and kryptonite blue: that of Los Angeles-based Tadashi Shoji, whose collection is inspired by Jean Nouvel’s architectural monument for the new Louvre museum in Abu Dhabi. “I was struck by the interplay of beauty and light and the streaming geometric shapes,” reveals the Japanese expat, whose ode to longtime influences Madame Grès and Vionnet is exemplified by draping effects with tulle, pleated silk organza, and laser-cut detailing. “It’s all very pure, but expect a lot of twists,” says stylist Tina Chai, who was hand-picked by Shoji to collaborate on the September 12 presentation in Bryant Park. “We met with seven different people for the job,” says Shoji, “but once we saw Tina, we just clicked.”

The Tadashi Shoji Spring/Summer 2009 line made quite an impact at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York as can be seen from the articles below.

Not only do we get two beautiful close up shots of Tadashi dresses in the Fall issue of Thirteen Minutes magazine, we also get a little Tadashi interview accompanied by photos from the Spring/Summer 2008 Tadashi Shoji Fashion Show. On the cover is a pearlescent lilac silk jersey cocktail dress with starburst draping and fresh water pearl accents from the Spring/Summer 2008 Tadashi Shoji line. Inside we have a paradise blue geometric print silk chiffon halter gown from the Spring/Summer 2008 Tadashi Collection.

With the Fall 2009 Tadashi Shoji Fashion Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week just days away many publications are anticipating the event by examining the designer's inspiration. First we have the February 12th issue of the New York Times, which features a sketch of an upcoming Tadashi Shoji style. Then we have two articles from Women's Wear Daily, one from the 12th and one from the 14th, which discuss inspiration. Also included in the 14th issue is a sketch by Tadashi on top of the show schedule. Finally we have two from the 16th issue of Women's Wear Daily, which also uses the Tadashi sketch and speculates on the design decisions of the up-coming show.

Today marked Tadashi's fifth fashion show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week and already images can be found on the web. The official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week web site not only contains photo samples of the new Fall/Winter 2009 Tadashi Shoji line but also a video of the show itself, while New York Daily News and WWD both have wonderful slide shows of the the latest collection.

The recent issue of Gap Press brings us more shots from the Fall 2009 Fashion Show as well as an interview from Tadashi himself.

With our Spring/Summer 2010 fashion show just days away the press is already abuzz with Fashion Week fever. The Thursday, Sept 10 issue of San Antonio Express News focuses on the inspiration of the various designers, including, of course, Tasdahi Shoji.

Los Angeles-based Tadashi Shoji thinks better economic times are ahead, indicated by recent upturns in the stock and real estate markets. He says he will continue to provide women with "quality dresses at a democratic price point that they can use time and time again."

He's working with interesting new fabrications and a few new silhouettes, he says. "I am hoping the new fabrics and shapes will draw in a new consumer base while not alienating our core customer."

Many celebrities were in attendance at the Spring 2010 Tadashi Shoji Fashion Show. Among them were Eva Marcelle, Keri Hilson, Tinsley Mortimer and Chrisette Michelle. As an added bonus two of them even wore Tadashi Shoji. Tinsley Mortimer chose a favorite from the last fashion show - a rose memory taffeta petal-sleeve dress from the Fall/Winter 2009 Tadashi Shoji Runway Collection. Keri Hilson wore a classy one shouldered black dress from the Fall 2009 Tadashi Shoji Collection.

This year's Fashion Week saw many celebrities in Tadashi Shoji styles. First, attending the Tadashi Shoji Fall 2010 Fashion Show, we have the actress Alfre Woodard and TV personality Sherri Shepherd. Alfre Woodard is wearing a stylish black 3/4 sleeve jewel detailed neckline top from the Spring/Summer 2010 Tadashi Shoji Collection. Also attending the Tadashi Shoji Show was actress/singer Adriene Bailon in a charming navy crinkled silk chiffon with illusion beaded lace one-shoulder dress from the Spring/Summer 2010 Tadashi Shoji Runway.

Attending other Fashion Week events were actress Sophia Bush, who wore a darling cream/peach puff crinkled silk chiffon with illusion beaded lace cap sleeve dress from the Spring/Summer 2010 Tadashi Shoji Runway. Also actresses Raven Symone and Keke Palmer both selected styles from the Spring/Summer 2010 Tadashi Shoji Runway to wear to the Red Dress Event. Keke Palmer chose a jelly apple hammered silk crepe draped dress while Raven Symone donned a jelly apple crinkled silk chiffon draped knot-front dress.
