DALLAS—October 28, 2006—Dallas Market Center, the world's largest wholesale merchandise resource, presented internationally celebrated designer Tadashi Shoji with the award for Best Designer in the “After 5” category at the 31st Annual Dallas Fashion Awards. Among the approximately 500 attendees were a wide range of fashion designers, retail executives, manufacturer representatives, celebrities and fashion press from across the country.

Head Designer and Owner of the TADASHI and T by Tadashi brands, Shoji has been at the forefront of the fashion world since his start in the industry nearly 25 years ago. While the TADASHI collection features luxurious gowns and dresses in silk, chiffon and lace, T by Tadashi offers the TADASHI customer a line of ready-to-wear pieces, including modern separates and stretch denim.

“Receiving this prestigious award is a tremendous honor and I thank everyone involved for the recognition,” said designer Tadashi Shoji, whose collections can be found at more than 3,000 department and specialty stores worldwide. “The key in this business is never to focus on receiving acclaim, but to concentrate on designing for your core consumer, who, for me, is the sophisticated, intelligent woman.”

The TADASHI evening collection and T by Tadashi are available in the United States, Europe and Asia; major department stores include Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s. Sizes range from 0-16. The Dallas Fashion Awards, now in its 31st year, is the oldest retailer-chosen awards program in the country. The Awards recognize “superior design innovation, quality workmanship and retail performance.” The 24 finalists in 8 categories are nominated by a committee comprised of fashion press and industry experts. During the August Apparel Market retailers voted for their choice in each category. Winners were announced during the Dallas Fashion Awards gala on October 28, and proceeds from the evening will benefit the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) and the Fashion Group International Scholarship Fund.

ROUGE, a new bar/lounge inside the MGM Grand is featuring a special cocktail called "Tadashi Passion" on their menu! Designer Tadashi is very involved with the new hotspot - all the cocktail waitresses are wearing his dresses! Here's a picture of the menu below!

Dear Tadashi,

I want to take a moment to thank you for all of your efforts to help our Globe Guilder auxiliary organization's Celebrating Couture Fashion Show such a success. Our 2006 fashion show was our most successful event to date, and that is due, in no small part, to your efforts.

Your collection was a great addition to our fashion show, and our departure from a one designer show to several showings by many designers was a great choice for the theatre. Attendees were extremely taken with your designs and continue to talk about the fashion today.

Again, on behalf of everyone at The Old Globe, thank you for your participation. I hope that we can work together again in the future.

Michelle Vittone Mc-Neil looked stunning at the 2006 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, where she won an Emmy for Outstanding Prosthetic Make-up for a Series (Six Feet Under & Everyone's Waiting). Michelle is a long-time friend and colleague of Tadashi's, so for her wardrobe selection, the designer of choice was easy!
